I’ve been thinking a lot about the (my words for it:) anti-rapist movement. From what I’ve seen, it seems to be advocating violence. Don’t get me wrong, I’m against you if you believe you don’t need consent, but doesn’t this sound all too familiar with, “We kill the people who kill.” I know the crimes these criminals have done are very, very wrong, but I don’t feel right stooping down to their level; or even worse, taking their life…
But yes, if you try to do something to me without my consent, I will try and defend myself.

When you’re in the moment, your actions are completely valid because you have no time to have a second thought. Listen, I know you’re angry. I know that whatever may have happened to you is very fucked up, but I just don’t want to have the same thoughts as the majority of people, even if it makes you angry or sad or it seems wrong. I’m trying to change things. Please just let me throw things out there. I want you to think things you may have never thought of. This conversation does nothing if you we don’t try to understand where each of us is coming from. My thoughts never remain the same. Because of you, I will try to go about this in a different way. Thank you.
What YOU have to understand is that I walk through really shitty areas in Los Angeles. As do a lot of my friends. This may not be YOUR REALITY, but THIS IS OURS.

There we go! Now we’re actually having a conversation with each other and not AT each other. I am from LA. My father’s lifestyle was very dangerous. I was always around anger, violence, guns, drugs, and yelling. I’m a very anxious person. I want a world where if someone did something bad to me, I’m not going to reciprocate that because I don’t want that person feeling the pain they gave me. I know that doesn’t tie into the quick self-defense thing, but that is where my thought had begun. Istead, I’m going to try and change that person. No matter what I say or think, I’m always going to be on your side.
when i was at my first high school there was this really religious girl who would tell you off if you swore or said stuff like ‘oh my god’ and then one day she wouldn’t stop correcting the science teacher and he just turned around and went “JESUS FUCKING CHRIST SOPHIE SHUT THE FUCK UP” and she freaked out and started praying and then the next week her parents tried to sue the teacher
